Boundary Physics and Bulk-Boundary Correspondence in Topological Phases of Matter

This thesis extends our understanding of systems of independent electrons by developing a generalization of Bloch’s Theorem which is applicable whenever translational symmetry is broken solely due to arbitrary boundary conditions.
