Conflicting Objectives in Democracy Promotion

Conflicting objectives are often problematized as challenges to the effectiveness of international democracy promotion. Based on empirical research this book identifies the patterns of conflicting objectives in democracy promotion, the reasons for their emergence, and their consequences. This book was published as a special issue of Democratization.
