Social Memory in Ancient and Colonial Mesoamerica

Megged analyses ancient repositories of knowledge and social and religious practices, uncovering the unique procedures by which social memory operated and was communicated in Mesoamerica before the Spanish conquest. Megged suggests that we rethink indigenous representations of the past, considering the transformations in Mexican society during the colonial era.
