Urbanization is of pressing concern to society. Policies for urban growth cannot be confined to the cities themselves, but must extend outwards to include the city and its surrounding areas. This book examines how Britain, with the help of North American experience, has since 1965 pioneered new approaches to the city in its regional dimension.
