Urbanization in India During the British Period (1857–1947)

This study offers a macro picture of the urban process under the British administration, showing how colonial capitalism shaped and imposed urban patterns in India, and contextualizing India’s urbanization in the world capitalist system of the late 19th and early 20th century.
